Home Remodeling Hillsboro Beach, on a Half-Mile-Wide Island
Hillsboro Beach is three miles long and barely nine hundred feet across, with one road down the middle and water on both sides. That changes how a remodel has to be run here — and we plan for it before the first truck arrives.
What we do
Remodeling on the Hillsboro Mile
Condo interiors
Most of the island is vertical. We work inside association rules: approved drawings first, then the elevator reservation, the work-hour window and the protected common areas. The building sets the schedule and we build around it.
Bathrooms
Full gut, waterproofing membrane, curbless showers and vanities. In an oceanfront building the shower is almost always the first thing to fail, and what is behind the tile matters more than the tile.
Kitchens
Cabinets, counters, backsplash and the electrical behind them. In a condo the layout is usually fixed by the plumbing stack, so the gains come from storage and finishes rather than moving walls.
Salt-air repairs
Nine hundred feet wide means ocean on one side and the Intracoastal on the other. Hardware, fasteners and exterior finishes get chosen for that, not for a house five miles inland.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work in the condo buildings on Hillsboro Mile?
Yes. Condo work is most of what the island needs. We prepare the drawings and documents the association asks for, schedule around the building’s work hours, and protect the corridors and elevator on the way in and out.
How far are you from Hillsboro Beach?
Our shop is in Pompano Beach, immediately south of the Hillsboro Inlet. It is a short drive up A1A, which matters most when a job needs a follow-up visit.
Do I need a permit to remodel here?
Any plumbing, electrical or structural change needs one, and it has to be pulled by a licensed contractor or by you as an owner-builder. Association approval is separate from the permit and usually comes first. We cover the process in our guide to bathroom remodel permits in Florida.
Does the salt air really change the work?
On an island this narrow, yes. Hardware, fasteners, finishes and waterproofing all get specified for constant salt exposure from both the ocean and the Intracoastal. The wrong product fails in a couple of seasons.
